ART IN SIGHT
Art Clubbers teamed with Jason Bruges Studios and Wildstone Capital to deliver an exciting outdoor exhibition in the heart of Shoreditch. Art In Sight is a project which turns the urban city area into a gallery by bringing art to the masses using technology and existing sites.
We took over the board which is usually used for marketing for a whole month! We recruited 7 artists, designers and illustrators from our alumni to take part. The works showcased area variety of photography, painting and digital art. We wanted to reflect the creative diversity London has to offer. It was vital that the artists selected reflected that diversity and were able to represent BAME and LGBT+ artists.
Every year 23 million people pass through the station, and it is open for 20 hours a day. Throughout out our month long campaign just over 2 million Londoners passed the board and witnessed it’s colourful glory!
Currently the site is going through some exciting changes which all began with a collaboration between TfL and Appear Here, a trendy short-term letting agency that works with pop-ups. Appear Here boss Ross Bailey and TfL’s head of retail, Stuart Anderson, at a Google conference hatched a plan to re-invent shops in stations and to start with Old Street. Bailey said this project was an opportunity “to give more independent entrepreneurs and start-up brands the chance to appear in these high-footfall destinations, and in front of such valuable audiences, and to seed surprises into the daily commute”.
