Collaborative Story-Telling

  • Spotlight 30 Hay Currie Street London, England, E14 6GN United Kingdom (map)

Hannah is an Illustration Animation graduate, so her work focuses around the effective communication of narratives, and how visual art can be a huge aid in communicating a storyline or idea to a wider audience. This is a skill I don’t believe I was aware of until studying at university, and one I think is so important to anyone who wants to work or study in creative industry.

Hannah will be giving you a chance to collaborate over telling a story, told by those in the workshop. Using visuals only, without any words to communicate the storyline. The workshop would include everyone collaboratively painting and drawing on a large canvas to create one story in the form of a graphic novel like mural.

Everyone will need to communicate and work together to piece together their own snippets of the story painted onto the canvas. It doesn’t matter if there are multiple time lines happening at once, only that there is a clear beginning and end. This should create a huge, beautiful, experimental, visual narrative that everyone can step back and be proud of.

The lesson to be learnt from this workshop is to have fun whilst making! Be experimental in your work and take risks, as this is the only way to create new original pieces of work. A crucial skill in the creative industry is collaboration and the ability to work with others, which is a heavy focus of this workshop.
